OUR STORY
From My Father’s Hands, to the World
Some stories begin with a business idea.
Ours began with a father, a bag of tools, and a long road home.
Where It All Began
When I was a child, my family didn't have much.
My father made a living with 花鸟字 — a traditional Chinese folk art that turns words into pictures, weaving flowers, birds, and other beautiful forms into Chinese characters.
He carried his brushes, paints, and tools on his back and traveled from village to village, town to town, street to street.
Wherever people gathered, he would sit down and begin to write.
One name.
One blessing.
One painting at a time.
And somehow, those little pieces of art became enough to bring food home and keep our family going.
I grew up watching him work.
At the time, I only knew that this was how my father made a living.
I didn't know that years later, I would want to carry it much further.
A Father’s Work
As I grew older, I left that little world behind.
I studied. I worked. I began to see more of the world.
And my father grew older.
His hands were no longer as steady.
The roads became harder to walk.
The days of carrying his tools from place to place slowly became a memory.
But I began to look at his work differently.
What I once saw as simply a way to make a living, I began to see as something much more.
There was a warmth in it.
A name carefully written for a family.
A blessing made for a wedding.
A piece created to wish someone good fortune.
His work had always been about giving people something meaningful to keep.
I didn't want those years of work to simply disappear.
So I Started RuyiWish
I began with the art I knew best.
花鸟字.
But I wanted to take it somewhere new.
To bring it beyond the streets and villages where my father once worked.
To turn his art into something that could travel much farther — across borders, across languages, and into the homes of people who may have never heard of 花鸟字 before.
And perhaps, one day, someone on the other side of the world might receive one of his creations as a gift.
A name.
A wish.
A little piece of our family's story.
That thought became the beginning of RuyiWish.
From One Art Form to Many Wishes
As RuyiWish grew, I realized that the heart of my father's work was never just the art itself.
It was the wish behind the gift.
In Chinese culture, almost everything beautiful can carry a wish.
福 for good fortune.
如意 for wishes coming true.
平安 for peace and protection.
喜 for love and marriage.
玉 for blessing and protection.
生肖 for identity, character, and the year you were born.
So we began exploring more ways to carry those wishes into modern life.
Chinese names became seals.
Blessings became jewelry.
Traditional symbols became keepsakes.
Ancient meanings found their way into modern gifts.
Each one starts from a piece of Chinese culture.
And each one is made for a very human reason:
to give someone a wish.
What We Believe
A gift is never just an object.
It can say:
I love you.
I believe in you.
Stay safe.
Good luck.
Congratulations.
Welcome home.
I'm thinking of you.
Sometimes the most meaningful things are the things we don't know how to say ourselves.
That's what we want RuyiWish to do.
Take the beauty, symbols, craftsmanship, and blessings of Chinese culture — and turn them into gifts that feel natural in the lives of people everywhere.
Modern enough to belong in today's world.
Meaningful enough to be kept for years.
For Every Wish Worth Giving
RuyiWish started with my father's hands.
Today, it carries many more hands, many more stories, and many more wishes.
But the reason remains the same.
To make something beautiful for someone you care about.
From a small street in China,
to homes around the world.
From my father's craft,
to your story.
